The painting depicts a young woman with curly hair dressed in modest historical attire with a white scarf. She is seated against a natural landscape, resting one hand on the strings of a harp while holding a bouquet of red poppies in her other hand.This artwork was exhibited at the Berlin Academy Exhibition in 1872. It bears the artist's signature and the date 1872. The painting and its exhibition history are documented in Friedrich von Boetticher's multi-volume seminal work, "Malerwerke des 19. Jahrhunderts" (Painters’ Works of the 19th Century).The painting is in very good condition. It features an early 19th-century French gilded frame, which has minor chips.
