Theo Meier (1908–1982), Tara

Theo Meier was a Swiss artist whose work was heavily influenced by Paul Gauguin. The artist followed in Gauguin's footsteps, spending most of his life on the islands of the South Pacific, particularly in Tahiti, and later in Indonesia (Bali) and Thailand. The painting presented here depicts a portrait of a local woman named Tara, wearing a traditional wreath of tropical flowers and leaves on her head. The inscription "Tara" is located in the upper left corner, and the artist's signature, "Theo Meier," is in the lower right corner.
