Pair of small blown blue glass vases with their very rich finely chased copper mounts, mercury-gilded, in the form of ewers with pouring spouts and handles decorated with a cherub’s head, the vase is supported by applied decorative elements mounted on hinges.
Renaissance work circa 1600, probably from the Naples region.
The glass pieces are original, the mercury gilding of the mounts is indeed the original one and in a very fine state of preservation; it is presented in the found condition of these objects, leaving you free to have them cleaned.
A very similar pair was sold at Christie’s on February 25, 2009, from the former Yves saint Laurent Pierre Berger collection, for an amount of 109000 euros.
Another green-coloured pair is kept at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
To be noted: one applied decorative element is damaged at the hinges.
