Offered by Conservatoire Sakura
Made of hard-paste porcelain and wheel-thrown, the jardinière is decorated with phoenixes and peonies in a garden, among other flowers and plants surrounding a rock. Meticulously painted in the famille rose style, its rich decoration, gadrooned shape, and large size make it an exceptional piece. We believe it dates from the early 18th century and was made for an important European patron. The drainage hole is original. There are some firing flaws, including glaze chips and a long crack that was repaired at the time with iron prongs, now lost.
Width: 405 mm, Height: 200 mm.
