Chinese clock mid 18th century

Chinese-style clock, original movement without striking mechanism (known as a “watch cock”), featuring a Chinese dignitary in glazed stoneware on a lacquered bronze terrace, surrounded by rosebushes formed from branches of the same metal adorned with white flowers in French porcelain (Mennecy); the entire piece rests on a gilded bronze base supported by six leaf-shaped feet. Circular white enamel dial signed “André à Paris,” with double scale and date hand.
