Pair of Louis XV caned armchairs, resting on 4 cambered legs carved with flowers at the joints of the front crosspiece, itself carved with a small bouquet of flowers. The four legs are joined by a slightly curved H-shaped crosspiece.
The flat back features two pleasingly molded, carved and "pinched" uprights beneath the armrests upholstered in red leather.
One of the seats is stamped P.MOREAU
Paris, Louis XV period.
Presented with a removable cushion (some stains to the fabric).

Pierre Moreau (1722 - June 27, 1798) was awarded the title of Master on May 30, 1765. After working for his colleague Sylvain Nicolas Blanchard, he moved to rue de Cléry, from where he disappeared before the end of Louis XV's reign (P.Kjellberg, Le mobilier français du XVIIIème siècle)
