Important pair of French Baroque center stools in carved and gilded wood, made between the Louis XIV and Louis XV periods. They feature an unusually large format for this type of furniture, which makes them particularly scenographic and versatile in either contemporary or classic interiors.
The structure displays a beautifully flared and shaped apron with a sinuous profile on all four sides, richly carved with vegetal motifs, scrolls, and cartouches, typical of French taste between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The four elegant curved legs, carved with foliate decorations, end in inward-scrolled feet — a refined solution that visually lightens the volume and emphasizes the overall movement of the base. The original gilding, with its natural patina, enhances the depth of the carving and gives great luminosity to the pieces.
The padded seats are upholstered in crimson velvet, easily replaceable since each cushion is designed as a removable element — a practical detail that facilitates any intervention. This feature, along with their generous proportions, makes the stools ideal for placement at the foot of a bed, in an entrance hall, in front of a fireplace, or as decorative accents, footrests, or extra seating in a living room.
The quality of the carving, the original gilding, and the rare format place them within the category of high-level decorative furnishings, perfect for collectors seeking a French touch of strong visual impact yet with functional appeal.
A light conservation restoration will be carried out shortly.
