Vase, Franz Hofstötter, Johann Loetz Witwe, PG 358 decoration, ca. 1900, signed
The decoration of this vase was designed by Franz Hofstoetter (German: Hofstötter) for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. The so called PG 358 decoration was a immediate hit with the audience and it even won the Grand Prix of the World Exhibition for the glass works of Johann Loetz Witwe.
Hofstoetter was a multi talent, he studied painting, architecture and sculpting at the school of arts and crafts in Munich. His collaboration with Loetz led to some of the most stunning and special pieces of art glass from that period.
