Napoleon III Display case attributed to Viardot

A very fine stained sycamore maple display cabinet in the Orientalist style, attributed to Gabriel Viardot, dating from the Napoleon III period (1848-1870), 19th century.
It features openwork Orientalist decoration, adorned with gilt bronze dragons and velvet lining.
The upper section has a cubic cabinet with a glazed door.  It rests on four feet connected by a carved stretcher.

The workshop of Gabriel-Frédéric Viardot (1830-1904) was a Parisian cabinetmaker and wood sculptor specializing in the production of furniture freely interpreted in the "Chinese-Japanese style" and adapted to the European taste of the time.
Present at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition, he was awarded a gold medal.
