"Bather" after Étienne-Maurice Falconet (1716–1791) Bronze statue by L. Marchand. Elegant bronze figure representing a bather, after the famous model by Étienne-Maurice Falconet (1716–1791). The sculpture shows a young nude woman advancing gracefully while holding a drape that partially covers her body. The delicate tilt of the head and the natural modeling of the anatomy lend the composition a sense of movement and softness. The composition is inspired by a painting by François Lemoyne, whose mythological and classical subjects influenced numerous sculptural interpretations in the 18th and 19th centuries. This bronze bears the signature "Falconet" as well as the foundry mark "L. Marchand," a Parisian foundry active in the 19th century, known for its high-quality casts after the great French sculptors. The warm brown patina enhances the softness of the modeling and underscores the classical elegance of the figure. Date: circa 1860. Dimensions: Height: 82 cm; Width: 26 cm; Diameter: 28 cm
