SCHREIBER Charles Baptiste (1847-1902)
Known for his works on the religious and ecclesiastical world, he also produced lively scenes, portraits of young girls, and Orientalist scenes set mainly in Algeria (Passage Bonnet in Algiers).
He studied in the studios of Léon Bonnat and Brandon, then made his debut at the 1868 Salon, where he received an honourable mention in 1901.
The Reims Museum has a painting by him entitled ‘Young Italian Woman Knitting’, probably from 1876.
Stamp affixed to the back of the canvas, at the level of the hair in the lower left corner.
