Coffee service composed of a set of 6 litron coffee cups and their saucers in Sèvres porcelain. Beautiful Egyptian style decoration on a pink ground known as “hortensia”, with a frieze of stylized lotus flowers in gold on a white ground framed by gilt lines. At the centre of the saucer, a rosette of stylized lotus flowers. The cup and the saucer bear on the reverse the mark of the Manufacture of Sèvres, the double L of Louis XVIII, the Royal Fleur-de-Lys and the number 21 for the year 1821. The mark of the gilder inscribed in gold.
Our service seems to be the original decoration of which later variants are known with a frieze of polychrome flowers:
– the original dessert service described “pink ground coloured frieze in a white zone” produced in 1822 and sold to Monsieur Holgan
– the service on “pink ground light frieze” produced in 1826 for the comte de La Rochejaquelein, Auguste du Vergier de La Rochejaquelein
– the service “pink ground coloured frieze etc.” produced in 1831 for the composer Auber.
Our coffee cups are in excellent condition, no accident, bright colours and fresh gilding with slight wear on the saucer.
