Large terracotta sculpture (height: 0.85m) depicting a young naiad seated on a rock, reclining and holding a veil raised above her head. Beautiful pose, excellent condition, signed on the rock "A. FRAGONARD", France, circa 1880. Antonin Fragonard, who died in 1887, was the grandson of Honoré Fragonard. In 1882, he exhibited a statue of a dancer and a statuette, "Aurora," at the Salon des Artistes Français. He died insane at Charenton. (See: Bénézit Vol. IV, p. 472)
