Statuette of Zephyr, god of the wind, in mercury-gilt bronze on a richly decorated base adorned with water-leaf motifs. Empire or Restoration period, early 19th century.

Easily recognizable standing on clouds and with his butterfly wings, Zephyr is the Greek god of the west wind, associated with spring, the softness of the air, and natural renewal.

Very fine quality of craftsmanship. Rare and beautiful decorative object in very good condition, superb fine gold gilding (mercury gilded).
