Bold, courageous, and daring, Pierre Dumont—nicknamed the “enfant terrible” in his early years—devoted his life to art. Always moving forward, he became a driving force behind the new painting. He surrounded himself with artists at the forefront of emerging movements and rejected insipid, purely seductive art. Within the space of five years, he left the Société des Artistes Rouennais, which he had only just joined, and without delay founded the “Groupe des XXX” with his artist friends in 1907...
