17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Large Louis XIV mirror, carved and gilded, featuring an exuberant decoration combining interlacing acanthus leaves, flowers, and friezes of ribbons and gadroons.
The depth of the openwork carving, supported by luminous gilding, is remarkable, a testament to the high quality of the craftsmanship.
The pediment depicts a cherub crowned with a basket of flowers from which numerous acanthus leaf branches emerge in a scrolling and counter-scrolling pattern.
The symmetrical composition of the decoration is masterfully executed, resulting in a mirror of rare elegance.
