Beaded Ceremonial Head "Atwonzen" Grassland People, Cameroon

An atwonzen is a beaded wooden head that symbolically recalls trophy skulls but is neither a true trophy head nor an ancestor portrait. Rare and ritually powerful, such objects were used by elite societies to channel protective and otherworldly forces, reinforcing spiritual and political authority.
