Offered by Emmanuel Redon Silver Fine Art
Silverware and Silversmith of the 19th and 20th centuries
Impressive rectangular planter resting on four feet in the shape of stylized acanthus leaves ending in balls. The domed body is richly chiseled with palmettes, gadroons, and raised foliage motifs. The openwork upper section alternates rectangular openings and vertical uprights, topped with a finely engraved laurel frieze. The scrolled, foliage-covered side handles harmoniously frame the ensemble.
The removable interior, in original gilded brass, is signed Sannier Mérite. The balanced curve and the precision of the chiseling illustrate the technical perfection and elegance of the Louis XVI style revisited in the 19th century.
