Louis XIV scabellon in carved stone.
Attributed to Pierre Legros l’ainé (1629-1714) and Benoît Massou (1627-1684)
Each of the three sides is adorned with a triton holding a fish spouting a fountain of water.
The design of this scabellon is well known, as it was produced in marble and bronze for the grove by the Triumphal Arch in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Two marble examples are held in the collections of the Palace of Versailles.
Dimensions: Height 121 cm; Width 57 cm on the ground ; Width 33 cm at the top.
