Georges Gardet (1863-1939) - Tiger in the Ruins

Sculpture in gilt bronze and patinated bronze representing a tiger in ruins facing a statue of a Chinese Fô dog. Work circa 1920 entitled ‘Dans les ruines’ (‘In the ruins’). Art Deco period. Large bronze statue standing on a cherry red marble base. Signed "G. Gardet‘ and pretigious founder's mark ’F. Barbedienne. Fondeur". Perfect condition.

This bronze is reproduced in Florence Rionnet's book, ‘Les bronzes de Barbedienne’, page 336, published by Arthena.
