Small curved Louis XV period chest of drawers in rosewood veneer. It opens with three drawers on three separate rows. Rounded fluted uprights. Royal red marble top. (restored). Beautiful bronze ornamentation (original), finely chiseled and gilded. Height: 83 cm; Width: 82.5 cm; Depth: 50 cm Stamped G. SCHWINGKENS (Guillaume Schwingkens "cabinetmaker of German origin": received master around 1740, died around 1760) Condition report and technical photographs on request. Of German origin, Schwingkens arrived in Paris during the Regency period and probably obtained his mastery at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV. He began practicing on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine and around 1745 moved his workshop to rue de Charonne. His furniture, mainly chests of drawers and corner cabinets, is all in the Louis XV style, made of veneered wood with occasional marquetry motifs.
