Offered by Emmanuel Redon Silver Fine Art
Silverware and Silversmith of the 19th and 20th centuries
This exceptional jug, produced by Cleto Munari and executed by the goldsmiths Rossi & Arcandi, is freely inspired by the Constructivist and Suprematist forms of Kazimir Malevich. More than a utilitarian object, it is a sculptural manifesto in precious metal.
The construction is based on a rigorous interplay of geometric volumes: a solid rectangular base, a mirror-polished hemispherical lid, an angular spout with futuristic accents, and a wooden handle designed as an architectural counterpoint. The contrast between the flat surfaces, the protruding elements, and the curves accentuates the object's plastic and dynamic effect.
In the manner of Russian architects and artists of the 1910s and 1920s, this work transposes the ideas of radical abstraction into a utilitarian register. Malevich's engraved signature reinforces the direct connection to this artistic lineage, while the collaboration with Cleto Munari places the piece within a contemporary design tradition where the object becomes a work of art.
