19th century and Art Nouveau furniture and objets d'art
A rare cracked glass vase with applied lion's head handles on either side. Chinese work using cracked porcelain vases as a source. Late 19th century. Ernest Leveillé was a publisher of glassware and porcelain at the end of the 19th century, founding the Léveillé company in 1869 at 74 boulevard Haussmann in Paris. His crackled vases engraved on three layers of glass won him a gold medal. In 1899, Leveillé opened a boutique at 140 Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, followed by 10 rue de la Paix in 1902.
Models of the artist's crackled vases are now preserved in prestigious museums such as the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
