Offered by Tobogan Antiques
A beautiful pair of paintings, one depicting Cupids playing on a swing on a tree trunk, and the other representing Cupids shooting bows and setting traps, all in a rural landscape.
The paintings are decorated at the corners with gilded rosettes, and surrounded by a frame decorated with interlacing.
These scenes of playing Cupids are characteristic of the charming subjects popular in 18th century France, one of the greatest artists of which being François Boucher (1703-1770).
