Large and beautiful “inciso” vase, model 4815, designed by Paolo Venini (1895-1959), one of the leading figures in Murano glass design and production, who was an important contributor to 20th-century Italian design. He is the founder of Venini & C. (since 1921), which is still in business. The beautiful height of this bottle-vase (44 cm) and the sobriety of its tapered silhouette are noteworthy, as well as the specificity of his “inciso” technique consisting of a slight horizontal grinding over the entire surface of the object, to give it an extremely elegant sandblasted/satin finish. A variant of this bottle-vase (in another color) was exhibited at the XXVIII Venice Biennale in 1956.
