Series of four folding stools circa 1850

Beautiful series of four folding stools in cream lacquered beech wood with gold leaf highlights.
“X” shaped model, with four crosspieces in the shape of sword handles decorated with palmettes.
They are connected in the lower parts by turned spacers and in the central parts by rosettes decorated with stylized lotus flowers.

Good state of conservation, small gaps in the gilding and some traces of wood-eating insects.

Parisian work around 1850-1860 after a model by Jacob-Desmalter delivered for the service of Empress Joséphine at Malmaison.

Width: 59cm; Depth: 41 cm; Height: 48 cm
