Sacred Art, objects and decorations of religious life, devotional object
Framed by four twisted columns decorated with a golden fire pot, the bottom of our large hunt is lined with trimmings with embroidery. She receives a bagged skull, surrounded by numerous beads of multiple colors and a crown topped with a cross. This relic of the company of Saint Ursula is surrounded by two ex-ossibus relics also bagged and decorated with glass beads. A phylactery specifies that it is indeed Saint Ursula, Virgin and Martyr. She is the patroness of young girls and drapers.
A work from South Germany, mid-19th century.
The pyramidal top of the upper part is removable. On a white cushion, there are also notable fragments of this same company of Saint Ursula of Cologne as well as the bones of Saint Benedict and Saint Vitalis, Martyr of the first century whom the Emperor Nero had the terrible idea of burying alive.
On the back is a religious wax seal, ancient property of this remarkable hunt.
