Old and Alsatian furniture and paintings
Original with its curved concave facade, this credenza or cabinet originates from the Rhine Valley, and dates from the 17th century. The doors have reserves inlaid with walnut in 4 sheets, surrounded by nets also included in the uprights. In the center of the doors and on the ends of the pilasters a motif of lambrequin whose cords intersect and are finalized by a decoration simulating pots with fires, maple will be the essence used for these reasons. The body of the cabinet is elegant, placed on a turned wooden base, creating a presentation space. The upper part is surmounted by a set of 5 drawers arranged in tiers allowing in past centuries to present silver goblets, cups or carafes. The amounts are with cut sides and accentuate the effect of lightness given off by the whole. The doors are embellished, on the four corners, with foliage motifs in bronze. Beautiful engraved bronze keyholes. This cabinet is made in beautiful luminous walnut with a beautiful blond patina bringing out the flamed grain of the wood. It is a piece of ceremonial and presentation furniture that should have been located in one of the main rooms of the house or in a reception hall. Its beautiful proportions, its dimensions and the re-entrant curve make it a piece of furniture that can easily be accommodated in a contemporary atmosphere as well as in a classic decor.
