On the braid, a gules shield between two capital B's for Brabant-Brussels and the initials F-V-H, the marks of the city of Brussels and the weaver François Ier van den Hecke.
The tapestry, sold by the heirs to whom it had been returned, bears the identification label established by the Americans in Germany.
