This commode stands upon four lightly arched cabriole legs, the front two of which terminate in gilt bronze sabots. The front, containing the drawers, has a slight curve; this undulating silhouette is repeated in the sides of the commode. The commode has two lockable drawers, each with two pulls and a keyplate. The overhanging walnut root-veneered top follows the outline of the commode and emphasises its typical Rococo appearance.
Although the model clearly derives from the French fashion of the time, the walnut root execution is evidence of a clearly Dutch approach. This has resulted in quite an unusual item of furniture, by Dutch standards.
