Portrait of a breton woman by Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer

Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer had a fertile career as a painter and draughtsman. He excelled in the use of pastel, with a free, often ethereal and light touch. His subjects are often treated with delicacy and depth.
The portrait we present is of a Breton woman in profile, probably painted around 1896, the year he stayed in Douarnenez and painted the famous Notre Dame-de-Penmarc'h, having been touched by the fervor and piety of the Breton peasantry.
Frame dimensions: width: 59.5cm height: 75cm
