Henry Markò, born in Florence, is a landscape painter and sailor of considerable sensitivity, undoubtedly linked to the late nineteenth century painting tradition with romantic hints.
Descendant of the pictorial dynasty that is headed by the Austrian Andrea Markò paints, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a series of works characterized by a skillful scenic layout: rare marine of the Ligurian Riviera, bright and very detailed in execution, numerous wooded landscapes, sometimes animated by figurines, and frequent views of cities such as Florence, Rome, Genoa, Sestri Levante, which demonstrate its constant work throughout the country, thus coming into contact with the most illustrious painters of the time, including, as reported by some publications, the Ligurian painter Antonio Discovolo without, however, remain influenced by the point of view of painting.
Much of his activity takes place in Tuscany, especially in Florence, where, after all, Andrea Markò and Carlo Markò the young, carried on a School of landscape that represented at that time the most advanced pictorial instances in the ambit of modern landscape painting, before the advent of the "revolutionary" movement macchiaiolo Tuscan.
In fact, the work of Andrew and his disciples derived, in particular, from the Arte del Calame and the school of Barbizon.
Henry Markò in the final part of his artistic career, moved permanently to Liguria, Lavagna, where he favors a landscape of local scope.
