Silvius Brabo - Jef Lambeaux (1852 - 1908)

This sculpture was created by the Belgian artist Jef Lambeaux (1852 - 1908).Jef Joseph Marie Thomas Lambeaux, born January 14, 1852 in Antwerp and died June 5, 1908 in Brussels, is a Belgian sculptor. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He was the brother of Jules Lambeaux129

The bronze statue is a smaller version of the famous statue that stands on the Brabofontein in Antwerp.

The legend of Brabo is about the giant Druon Antigoon, who cut off the hand of the reluctant toll payers and threw it into the Scheldt. Brabo, however, killed the giant and in turn cut off his own hand, which he threw into the river. According to this explanation, Antwerp was derived from "werpen hand".
