Vase Josef Hoffmann Franz Hofstötter Loetz PG 413 ca. 1900 Art Nouveau

Vase, design (shape) Josef Hoffmann for the VIII exhibition of the Vienna Secession, design (decoration) Franz Hofstötter, Phenomen Genre 413 decoration, Johann Loetz Witwe, ca. 1900

This architectural vase represents a wonderful collection and museum piece, considering its rarity as well as its quality. The glass artwork was designed by Josef Hoffmann for the VIII. Exhibition of the Vienna Secession. This important event in art history was devoted not only to painting, but also to international arts and crafts. Josef Hoffmann's strict geometric style was carried through from the design of the main hall of the Secession Exhibition, to the art objects themselves.

Our exceptional Jugendstil glass was mould-blown and then free formed. The applied teardrop overlays were distorted into three columns — an extremely complex and elaborate glassblowing process requiring the highest level of craftsmanship.
