A beautiful Renaissance work, this Italian stoup in red marble from Verona, also called Sant Ambrogio marble.

In its center, an angel's head in strong relief, with soft lines, hair and fine features. With hemmed lips and a finely drawn nose, this angel exudes tenderness. Our cherub, in the image of the protectors of the Ark of the Covenant, with his outstretched wings, welcomes and protects... here, the receptacle of the Blessed Water which is offered to believers.

A beautiful massive basin that was once sealed in a wall of a chapel.
