David From Florence, carved walnut wood circa 1900

The figure shows the biblical David before his fight against Goliath.
He lets the noose hang over his left shoulder.
In his right hand he holds the stone in his fist.
The sculpture is carved from a single piece of walnut wood.
The sculpture resembles the original which has been in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence since 1873. A second David sculpture made in the 19th century stands in the Piazza della Signoria.
Date of origin around 1900.
