Carved wood depicting saint Martin

Our partially polychromed Saint is carved in the round. It is hollowed out in the back.
In a noble posture, he stands upright. He offers the blessing with the right hand while with the left hand, he maintains his mantle with the deep and broken folds.

The Saint is represented in the guise of a middle-aged man of rare beauty. His elongated face has a hyper realistic rendering thanks to the vigor of his features, his well-defined nose, his prominent cheekbones and his slightly hollowed cheeks. His expressive gaze is framed by finely crafted curly hair, like his symmetrical halved beard.
He wears a hat with a wide brim in polychrome red and green, like that of a pilgrim.

The sartorial fashion of this saint places him perfectly in his time with his pointed and flat shoes. He wears a short tunic belted at the waist, embroidered with fur at the collar and at the bottom. This is covered with a coat attached to the front by two cords.

The particularly studied face and the quality of execution of the whole indicate an energetic chisel and a great skill.
