A gold and enamel cross pendant set with table cut rock crystals.
Spanish, late 17th century.
The inner necklace circumference is 56cm, the drop measures 10cm.
The cross alone measures 7.4 x 3.2cm.
Set on a gold, enamel and pearl chain, made up of 17th century and later elements.
Fitted in a late 18th century Harvey & Gore moroccan leather necklace box, by whom it was most likely retailed by.
Our present example has been illustrated in the publication 'Investing in Antique Jewellery' by Richard Falkiner, c.1971, on the front cover and on Page 71. The jewel appears to have been mounted on the chain and fitted in an 18th century century box after the publication.
