A late Renaissance diamond and garnet ring.

Western Europe, first quarter of the 17th century.

Ring size N 1/2 UK / 6.75 US.

The bezel measures 1 x 0.9cm.

The box-shaped bezel is set to the top with a table cut diamond and the four sides with table cut garnets. The shoulders are fluted and carved with flowers which contain traces of original enamel. The reverse of the bezel is carved with what appears to be astrological symbols, the decoration most likely has magical properties when worn against the skin.
