PRESENTATION GALLERY : Galerie Patrick Burtin
The Patrick Burtin Gallery is dedicated to abstraction from the second half of the 20th century. It offers a selection of works by artists chosen for the power of their pictorial language, their historical roots and the uniqueness of their approach.
The gallery is particularly interested in the painters of the Second School of Paris, an essential post-war movement that saw abstraction unfold in all its diversity — from gestural lyricism to geometric rigour. This French scene finds an echo in other centres of abstraction, notably American abstract expressionism and the German pictorial scene.
Convinced that abstraction is neither cold nor inaccessible, the Patrick Burtin Gallery seeks to make the work of these artists visible and accessible. It champions sensitive, embodied painting that is capable of touching the viewer without being demonstrative.
Each work is carefully presented, documented and accompanied by a clear explanation, with a view to both conveying and promoting its value.
We welcome collectors, art lovers and curious visitors to our showroom in Nantes, from Tuesday to Saturday, by appointment only.
