Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres - Bust of Christ in porcelain, c. 1874

Rare bust depicting Christ in biscuit porcelain by the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. It rests on a porcelain pedestal in the famous cobalt blue color, known as "bleu de Sèvres" enhanced with pure gold.

•   Artist's mark.
•   The pedestal stamped S.74 for 1874.
•   Gilded at Sèvres in 1879.

Busts representing Christ are extremely rare in the production of the Manufacture. Very few pieces are known and few are offered for sale.
The quality of the sculpture and the emotion conveyed in the expression of the face once again illustrate the genius of the artists working for the Manufacture.

Condition report 
Very good condition. Some original cooking cracks, no accident or subsequent restoration.
