Attributed to Jacob Desmalter - A set of six mahogany chairs circa 1805

A set of six mahogany chairs with backrest « a planche et a spirales », by Jacob Desmalter, Paris circa 1805, unsigned.
The tablet toprail decorated with scrolls. The seat covered in brown leather on two front baluster legs and two back sabre legs.

A set of six similar chairs were supplied by Jacob Desmalter in 1803 to the chateau de Fontainebleau, for Emperor Napoleon’s study, were it remains today.
Another identical set of four chairs, with inventory marks of the palace of Saint Cloud, were delivered to the Grand Trianon in 1837, for Madame Adélaide’s antechamber. (Adélaïde d’Orléans (1777-1847), was King Louis-Philippe’s sister)
