Superb pair of orange or water decanters by the goldsmiths LAGRIFFOUL & LAVAL, crystal decanters from BACCARAT.
The body is decorated with twisted ribs, the cut-off collars finely engraved with a superb count's crown surmounting a monogram in foliated English letters. These decanters are adorned with hammered solid silver frames.
• French "Minerve 1er titre" (mark for solid silver 950 °/°°).
• Master goldsmith, "L.L. and three stars in a triangle" for LAGRIFFOUL & LAVAL.
The capacity of each is 110 cl.
Of great classic elegance, these decanters receive an astonishingly modern hammered silver frame. They probably date from the beginning of the twentieth century and the taste known as "Art Deco".
Parisian goldsmith based at 157 rue du Temple, LAGRIFFOUL & LAVAL is a house specializing in tableware. In addition to a very elegant Art Deco solid silver production, we know of a large number of mounted crystal objects, generally made in collaboration with the BACCARAT house. The quality of these pieces is remarkable.
A crack at the junction of the handle on one of the two decanters, slightly visible but not giving rise to fear of weakness or breakage.
In view of this exceptional fact, it is however possible to acquire only one of the two decanters.
