BIANCHI DI GIOSUE MOSE '
Born October 13, 1840 in Monza, died May 15, 1904 in Milan.
Painter of history, genre scenes, figures, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, church interiors, still lifes, watercolorist, mixed media painter, engraver, draftsman.
Bred by Bertini at the Brera in Milan. After having made study trips, notably to Rome, Venice and Paris where he exhibited for the first time successfully in 1878, he returned to settle in Milan.
Admirer of Venetian painters and also of Meissonier and Fortuny, he painted portraits, landscapes, history and genre paintings, compositions with intense colors and a smiling and nuanced verve.
We quote from him: "The Chioggia Canal", acquired by the National Gallery of Rome, "Captain Molta at the gates of Chioggia", bought by the King of Italy and "Tempète en mer", for the Villa Reale in Monza . This artist exhibited a series of etchings at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
Bianchi was since 1898 director of the Cignaroli academy in Verona.
