Engraved title on the front, below the bust : 'DUC de Bordeaux'.
Signed under the left shoulder by the sculptor of the model 'Brachard aîné fecit Jn. 1821' (not perfectly legible) for Jean Charles Nicolas BRACHARD the elder, active from 1776 to 1823.
On the back, signature "A.B." of the 'sculpteur-repareur' Jean Nicolas Alexandre BRACHARD the younger, brother of the previous Brachard, active from 1784 to 1827.
Also on the back, date and number '6 mai . 22 . n° 2'
Under the plinth: blue stamp of the manufacture (two interlaced Ls enclosing a 'fleur de lys'); annotations in green (by the ground colour painter) '21 D. 21' and in gilding (by the gilder) '7 mai 22 Y' (?)
Overall height: 23 cm. (9 1/16 inches)
Excellent condition (very small firecracks and a tiny chip to top edge of left shoulder)

Henri d'Artois, duc de Bordeaux and later comte de Chambord was nicknamed 'L'enfant du miracle' at birth ('the miraculous child'). Grandson of Charles X and born on 29 September 1820, after the assassination of his father, the duc de Berry, in February of the same year, he was the last heir of the senior royal Bourbon branch.

Sevres busts, even from the 19th century, are very rarely so fully marked, in this case, both by the creator of the model and by the repairer who actually moulded and finished this example (and who happen to be brothers)!
