"Antoine Vollon began his career in Lyon, where he learned metal engraving and attended the École des beaux-arts de Lyon. He is the pupil of Théodule Ribot. The artist then quickly mastered oil painting and became interested in etching, but quickly developed a special attention to still lifes: sea fishes, squashes and fruit bowls are all themes that he declined.
