Beautiful and elegant workbox in black lacquered wood, enhanced with gilded decoration depicting scenes of court life, scrollwork, and flowers. Napoleon III period, circa 1860.

In good condition, with minor losses.

Dimensions: H. 15 cm × W. 37 cm × D. 26 cm.

The workbox we present features rich ornamentation depicting scenes of imperial court life within cartouches, with numerous finely detailed figures.

A small drawer is concealed in the front, containing several compartments, one of which has a removable lid.

These objects were designed for a European clientele whose enthusiasm for the decorative arts of the Far East was at its height.
