French Empire Period Iron Strongbox , cassaforte

A remarkable French iron strongbox dating from the Empire period (1799-1815), combining imposing construction with refined decorative details.
The chest is secured at the front with two padlocks , while a concealed keyhole is discreetly hidden on the top , beneath the Sphinx figure, adding an ingenious element of security.

The front is further embellished with two small crowned ornaments, lending the otherwise austere ironwork a distinctive aristocratic character.
