Boin taburet – solid silver jardiniere and its lining - 19th

With its flowing, generously shaped form, it rests on four cabriole feet with scrolls, typical of the Rococo style. The repoussé and chased decoration features delicate asymmetrical shells, foliate clasps, and cartouches framed by floral garlands, in a style clearly inspired by Louis XV. The finely crafted, sinuous side handles accentuate the elegance and lightness of the whole.
The center features a blank cartouche that can accommodate a coat of arms or a monogram, a detail sought after by collectors of antique silverware. Its removable metal interior, perfectly fitted, precisely follows the contours of the jardinière and fits seamlessly inside. This originally allowed it to hold floral arrangements or coolers, while protecting the sterling silver.
Through the quality of its chasing, the balance of its proportions, and the richness of its decoration, this piece testifies to the prestige of the Boin-Taburet firm, a renowned supplier to an aristocratic and bourgeois clientele during the Belle Époque.
