Two vestal virgins support the arms of the three-flamed candelabrum, adorned with chain pendants. These are surmounted by an oval cobalt-blue glass bowl set in bronze. The base is in Carrara marble, adorned with a relief band and stepped borders in fire-gilded bronze. A work of exceptional finesse, crafted in burnished and fire-gilded bronze, with a unique cobalt blue glass element. These candelabra come from a major private collection. François Rémond (1747–1812) was one of the greatest Parisian bronze casters and gilders of the late 18th century. His pairs of candelabra are masterpieces of the Louis XVI, Directoire and early Empire styles, often produced in collaboration with the influential merchant and haberdasher Dominique Daguerre.
